“I LOVE TO READ” @ MES
February is I Love to Read Month. Our theme this year is The Winter Olympics. Students will be encouraged to read every day after school. Every time they read for a certain length of time (depending on their grade level) they will receive a point for their class. The class who has the most points at the end of the month will win a Gold Medal, pizza and chocolate milk. As well, they will play dodgeball against the teachers. Silver and Bronze medals and prizes will also be awarded.
On Friday, March 2 our Winter Olympics Fun Day will be the celebration for the whole school.
One point will be awarded to their class each time a student reads for the following amount of time:
- Grade 4 – 30 minutes
- Grade 3 – 25 minutes
- Grade 2 – 20 minutes
- Grade 1 – 15 minutes
- Kindergarten – 10 minutes
Here are some other exciting I Love to Read activities planned for the month:
- Feb. 14 – Cornie Rempel – 9 a.m.
- Feb. 22 – Wear a Jersey Day
- Feb. 28 – Closing Assembly – Read in the Gym and Medal Awards
- March 2 – Winter Olympics Fun Day
