VICE-PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE: I Love To Read Month
I love many things: fishing on a calm lake; watching the sun sink past the horizon; watching the sun rise; the excitement on the playground at recess; the excitement in the staffroom just before a staff meeting; breathing deep; burning birch; my family; volunteers from a supportive community; and, of course, READING!
February is “I Love to Read Month.” So, check out our newsletter & website for the fine selection of events that the IL2R committee has once again put together.
Did you know that studies cited by Mayo Clinic, Science Daily, and National Academy of Sciences suggest that reading a (real) book has many proven benefits? Here is a list of reading perks: increases intelligence and brainpower; helps foster empathy; reduces the likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s; and helps a person relax & increase quality of sleep. Perhaps Dr. Seuss said it best, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
My favourite time to read is during my early morning quiet times with a steaming cup of coffee. What’s yours?
