Dr. Gordon Neufeld, developmental psychologist and author of Hold On to Your Kids, came to speak to Hanover School Division parents and employees last month, and he offered some excellent reminders & insights on the importance of the relationship we have with OUR KIDS. Here are a few takeaways from our time together:

  • “Unconditional parental love is the indispensable nutrient for the child’s healthy emotional growth.”
  • “Children learn best when they like their teacher and they think their teacher likes them.”
  • “Peer relationships are safest when they are the natural offspring of attachments with the parents.”

Relationships continue to matter here at MES. Fall & Winter Fun Days, Christmas & Spring Concerts, MES Assemblies, Mitchell Senior Centre connections, grade 4 ski trips and running club, PAC & volunteers are all relationships, connections, and partnerships that we celebrate. Once again, MES says, “Thanks!” for supporting us and continuing to engage in a healthy way for OUR KID.
