It’s hard to believe that we are wrapping up a full year under covid conditions. MES has experienced the deep and profound benefit of healthy relationships, community support, and high capacity teachers and support staff. I’m so proud of our staff who maintains such high literacy and numeracy standards and results, while not sacrificing the love for our community kids; in fact, my belief is that the two are intrinsically linked.

If dollar amounts are any indication of community engagement, our two fundraisers in the last five weeks would suggest the term “unwavering support” is accurate.  Around $17,000 in just over a month – amazing! I’m encouraged to be a member of such a supportive community and your generosity is inspiring.

So, farewell for now. After working in the Mitchell Schools for the last 20 years, I’d say my feelings are mixed on accepting the offer to serve in another community; on one hand I’m really excited about  getting back into the Middle Years context, but on the other hand I’m going to miss the healthy relationships and community support that have been so strong here. Who knows what the future holds, but I know I will look back fondly at all of the teamwork, kindness, care, professionalism, and work ethic that represent the communities within Mitchell. Thank you for your trust and support.

It has been an honour and pleasure to serve the community for so long. A highlight of my elementary experience has been all of the dad jokes and people supporting the fun. Here is one final dad joke to share.
Q: How does a T-rex feel after going to Phys Ed?
A: A little dino-sore 😉

Wishing you all, a well deserved summer break.
